This restaurant and same owners have been around for at least 30 years. I moved away almost 20 years ago and have returned home to Tucson. I went in for lunch with a friend on Saturday. Lunch specials still apply on Saturday. Service is attentive and friendly. The building is old and tired, but the place was clean, including the restrooms. We both ordered combination lo mein and egg drop soup. Lunch specials include soup and rice. Our meals with ice tea came to under $16. The lunch portion was quite generous. Excellent as we remember it to be. Prices are higher, but not out of the present norm. Everyone seems concerned about the boxes in the front lobby. This is a very old building and there isn't much storage. Everything was organized nicely. I am not bothered about the crowded lobby, because I have known this place for over 30 years and life has changed and expanded. Will always be one of my favorite Chinese restaurants.

Nice big menu to choose from with fresh and delicious food. The seafood mix dish with vegetables was beautiful! I will not order lemon chicken and orange chicken again they are similar as battered and deep fried with citrus and sweet sauce. The Mongolian chicken will never disappoint me. Staff were friendly and attentive. Clean and beautiful dining area.

With the mixed reviews I wasn't sure what to expect, however I was very pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is quintessential Chinese. I'm not sure why the boxes bother people - but yes they are there neatly stacked. The service was efficient and the food came out hot and tasty. The sweet and sour soup was yummy, and I was here for lunch so had the house lo mien with egg roll. Very generous portions and excellent food. I recommend this place - reminiscent of some of my favorites in San Francisco.

Best sizzling rice soup in Tucson. Great food and casual atmosphere. The server is very attentive and friendly. Most places charge for rice, they don't. Definitely recommend this place! Just be aware that they can get quite busy at times.

Great Village is Tucson good chinese. We stopped in about 1 pm today for lunch. Noted that the front was a little crowded with boxes presumably for takeout and leftover take home. Also the front was full of bags and takeout cartons. Again, presumably because there is no other space in the building for this stuff to be out of the way. No matter, didn't seem to be a problem. We were quickly greeted and seated by the masked server. We took some time to look through the large menu and came to some decisions. Our server took the drink order right away and then came back for the food order. The dishes came out promptly after a few minutes. We had, in order of delivery, the Szechuan style bean curd or Ma Po Do Fu, Beef Lo Mein and Chicken Chop Suey. The Beef Lo Mein was the clear winner here. Very good, great flavor! Ma Po Do Fu was a slightly sweet flavor but lightly peppery. Not the flavor I was expecting. Must be a regional thing. Not that it was bad, just different. On a return trip will likely get something like orange chicken instead. The chop suey was also good once the flavors had a few minutes to blend. When first on the table the veges had an off taste likely from the water used to blanch them and hadn't been stirred into the bean sprout sauce yet. The chicken chop suey is a very mild dish so any off taste in anything comes through easily. After sitting a while and some stirring I think it got a little better. I wonder if putting some water filters on the pipes just ahead of the water running into the cooking sinks might clean that out. The place is 35 years old and I'll bet they haven't touched anything in there since it opened. The portions were very big and we brought home easily half the food. We'll gladly make at least another meal out of the leftovers. The server was prompt and friendly. Food came out as it was ready and still hot when arriving at the table. I'm sure we'll be back and try some other things. Wifey for sure will try the orange chicken and I'll get the beef chop suey. Lo mein very likely again. I hope they make good hot and sour soup too.
